The Akvamiljų laboratories and exposure facilities
The Akvamiljų centre includes laboratories for biological testing and analyses i.e. laboratories for ecotoxicology, chemistry, chromatography, microbiology, microscopy-/image analyses radio tracers and proteomics.
The Akvamiljų laboratories for ecotoxicology include light-and temperature controlled climate rooms, radio tracer laboratory, a large hall for pilot scale studies, as well as different specially designed, controlled test systems:
- A continuous flow system (CFS) for low-dose chronic exposures. Any chemical, whether water miscible or not, can be tested under long-term exposure. The system can either be a direct addition online or as an addition of a water associated fraction (WAF) made in large batches or on a continuous system. It is a state-of-the-art exposure system for chronic toxicity testing of aquatic organisms. The design is flexible and can be connected to a wide range of test chambers.
