Multiphase Reservoir Flow

Multiphase reservoir flow is one of IRIS' priority areas. Our activities within multiphase reservoir flow aim at finding means to increase oil recovery from existing oil fields. This is based on already existing operational and economic restrictions and requirements.

Research areas:

Our capabilties and work functions span from oil field reviews and consulting, to the development of specialized and applied research techniques. This couples with extensive and state of the art laboratory facilities where we conduct required testing, product development and support our research activities.

IRIS has been involved in multiphase reservoir flow since 1980. Our researchers have made significant findings and contributions to the professional knowledge and literature in this research area.

We work closely with the Universities of Stavanger and Bergen, with staff exchange and dual responsibility functions for seniors in both research and teaching aspects. We also have close relations to a number of universities abroad.

Some key knowledge and research topics:
Surfactant and polymer flooding, Microbial EOR, CO2 flooding, Water control, Reservoir model updating, Reservoir simulation, Real time reservoir steering, Multiscale methods, History matching, Uncertainty assessment, Field EOR potential evaluation
