About IRIS

IRIS is part of the NORCE research group.

NORCE is a new and forward-looking research institute with great academic breadth and composed from strong academic communities. We deliver research and innovation in the areas of energy, health, climate, environment, society and technology. Our solutions respond to key societal challenges and contribute to value creation on a local, national and global basis.

NORCE is one of Norway's largest independent research institutes with 700 employees, 1500 projects, annual revenues of approximately NOK 890 million and around 500 academic publications per year.

Including subsidiaries, the NORCE group has 800 employees from around the world. The group and its knowledge are present in several countries, and have annual revenues of more than NOK 1 billion.

Its head office is located in Bergen and the company has significant activities in Haugesund, Stavanger, Kristiansand, Grimstad and Oslo.

NORCE Norwegian Research Centre AS was established in 3 July 2017. Today, the company owns five research institutes in Southern and Western Norway, which will be integrated into the company during the course of 2018. These are Agderforskning AS, Christian Michelsen Research AS, International Research Institute of Stavanger AS, Teknova AS and Uni Research AS.

The main shareholders in NORCE are the University of Bergen, the University of Stavanger, and the University of Agder. The company’s legal name is NORCE Norwegian Research Centre AS.

The academic communities IRIS will continue to be based in Stavanger, Bergen and Oslo and will continue to be a strong contributor to research and innovation in the region.
