PhD Thierry Baussant started to work in the field of ecotoxicology in 1996 and is chief scientist at the department “Marine Environment”. His present skill is mostly from laboratory studies with several temperate, Arctic and deep-water species. His experience includes exposure system development, study of bioaccumulation and toxicokinetic, biological effect parameters (biomarkers), early-life stages studies. Since 2003, he is also involved in the application of sensor and biosensor technologies for real-time environmental monitoring. His main research activities are related to oil and gas offshore industries. His current activities are related to the optimization of biomarkers for high throughput evaluation using flow cytometry, the knowledge and monitoring of deep-sea corals and the application of sensing for oil and gas monitoring particularly for the Arctic regions.
