9th International EnKF Workshop
June 23-25, 2014
Solstrand Hotel & Bad, Os
Norway

Welcome to the 9th International EnKF Workshop arranged by IRIS, NERSC and Uni CIPR.

The ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) and its many variants have been proven effective for data assimilation in large models, including those in atmospheric, oceanic, hydrologic, and petroleum reservoir systems. By bringing together technical experts, practitioners, researchers and students for presentations and informal interchange of information, we aim to share research results and suggest important challenges that have yet to be addressed. Read more here.

The 9th International EnKF workshop is arranged by IRIS in collaboration with the Nansen Center (NERSC) and the Uni Centre for Integrated Petroleum Research (CIPR).

Invited speakers:
Al Reynolds, University of Tulsa; "My decade-long journal through the field of ensemble-based data assimilation"
Sebastian Reich, Institut für Mathematik, Universität Potsdam; "Linear ensemble transform filters: a unified perspective on ensemble Kalman and particle filters"
Emmanuel Cosme, Universitè de Grenoble; "A non-Gaussian ensemble analysis scheme based on rank histograms"
Marco Iglesias, Nottingham University; "Iterative regularization for ensemble data assimilation"
Remus Hanea, Statoil; "Reservoir management and production forecast under geological uncertainties using ensemble methods”

Introductory talks to the worshop:
Dean Oliver (Uni Research CIPR); "Parameter estimation"
Laurent Bertino (NERSC); "State estimation”

Call for abstract: The deadline is March 1, 2014 and abstracts must be sent to Randi Valestrand (rv@iris.no).

We welcome abstracts on both new developments of the EnKF and related data assimilation methods and realistic applications. The applications are encouraged to discuss limitations and suggest further developments of the method. The accepted abstracts will be scheduled for either oral presentation or poster presentation. This workshop does not publish full papers, so submission of full paper is not required.
