IRIS is commissioned by Total Norge AS to perform an environmental study in relation to their Martin Linge field.

18.05.2015

TEPN have been given permission to release drill cuttings cleaned with the TCC Technology, and Miljødirektoratet requires that continuous monitoring of the cleaning process and environmental monitoring has to be carried out.

To fulfil this requirement an environmental biomonitoring study with blue mussels will be run around the Martin Linge field. A vessel has been out to the oil field to place a number of rig stations with mussels in the water column around the platform for the field monitoring. The field is located 42 kilometres west of Oseberg, at a water depth of 115 metres. In the meantime an experimental exposure to mimic the biological effects of periodic drilling activities will be set up under laboratory conditions in the facility of IRIS-Environment at Mekjarvik. Several biological indexes of stress will be analysed both in the laboratory and in the field.
