Aksel Hiorth is Chief Scientist within enhanced oil recovery at IRIS, and professor at University of Stavanger within reservoir technology. He has a PhD within theoretical physics from University of Oslo. The last 10 years his research interest has been to study the coupling of chemical and multiphase flow in porous media. He has been designing lab experiments and developing multiphase geochemical solvers on pore-, and core-scale by using the lattice Boltzmann technique, and on the field scale by using streamline techniques. He has been principal investigator in several industry funded projects and several joint industry and research council projects. In 2013 he was part of the management team that was awarded the Norwegian National Center within improved oil recovery by the Norwegian Research Council (www.uis.no/ior).
