About Geir

Geir Nævdal holds a Dr. Ing. (PhD) degree from NTNU (1991) and a MSc degree from University of Bergen (1987), both in mathematics. From 1991-1997 he worked at Stord/Haugesund College as a "Førsteamanuensis"(associate professor). He joined IRIS in 1997 and was promoted to "Chief scientist" in 2004. From 2009-2012 he also had a position as adjunct professor at Department of Mathematics, University of Bergen. His research interests include data assimilation, parameter estimation, inverse problems and optimization which he applies within petroleum science, and more recently also within medicine. He has served as a project manager for a number of large projects funded by the Norwegian Research Council and petroleum companies.
