Indicators for Environmental Impact of Petroleum Activities: The Next Generation of Molecular Markers

Project Leader: Daniela M. Pampanin
Project funding: NFR Petromaks 2 Grant nr.: 229153/E30
The research activity is related to the development and validation of new sensitive biological markers for assessing the impact of potential oil contamination in the marine environment.
The obtained results will be directly applicable to ecological risk assessment of PAHs.
A top down proteomic approach will be used. Identification of adducted proteins will be performed by using nano liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS)/MS followed by subsequent search in fish genome database. This approach has already been used successfully at IRIS-Environment.
