  • Numerical model based on statistical analysis of a large number of sieve samples
  • Two alternative calculation methods:
  • Principal component analysis
  • Least square analysis
  • Calculates four critical width openings that define a safe design interval:
  • d-- : the largest slot size where severe plugging is expected to be frequent
  • d- : the smallest slot size where no plugging is expected to occur
  • d+ : the largest slot size where sand production is not expected to occur
  • d++ : the smalles
